Putting bedding in bags, sorting clothing, clearing space around furniture... Preparing for bed bug treatment takes time. You may wonder why all these steps are necessary when an exterminator will be carrying out the treatment.

Why do you need to prepare your home?
Alexandre needs to be able to inspect and reach the places where bed bugs hide. Clothing on the floor or items piled up around the bed can make those areas harder to access.

What are plastic bags for?
The bags serve two distinct purposes depending on what they contain.
Before textiles are treated, bags are used to transport them while limiting the spread of bed bugs. The CIUSSS de la Mauricie-et-du-Centre-du-Québec fact sheet recommends placing fabric items in closed bags to take them to the treatment location, such as a dryer. Read the preparation fact sheet.
Once the items have been treated, the Quebec government recommends placing them in tightly sealed bags until extermination is complete in the affected room. .
